Cílem ateliérové práce bylo vytvořit fungující knihovnu pro současné století, kdy jde velkou část informací získat z virtuálního prostředí a knížek jako takových už není tolik zapotřebí. Tento problém se samozřejmě týká i uměleckých děl, jelikož většina beletrie je již zpracována ve formě e-knih a na knihy v policích knihoven se začíná více a více prášit. Pro návrh jsme si vybraly dvě parcely v městské části Brno-Husovice. Důvod výběru byl jasný - v této čtvrti se nachází nejméně knihoven z celého města. Takže navrhované objekty nejenže zalátají tuto vybavenostní díru, ale současně by mohly sloužit jako malé centrum sloužící setkávání a vzdělávání zdejšího obyvatelstva.

The aim of the studio work was to create a functioning library for the current century, when much of the information can be obtained from the virtual environment and books as such are no longer needed so much. Of course, this problem also applies to works of art, as most fiction is already in the form of e-books and the books on the shelves of libraries are becoming more and more dusty. We have chosen two plots of land in the Brno-Husovice district for our proposal. The reason for the choice was clear - this district has the least number of libraries in the whole city. So the proposed buildings will not only fill this amenity hole, but at the same time could serve as a small centre for meeting and education of the local population.

LIBRARY ON THE CORNER
The proposal rests on the idea of creating a building with clearly defined masses encompassing identical or similar functions without creating unnecessary and long corridors; on the contrary, it is the circulation areas that could become a meeting place and actually one covered public space where you can find a corner to read a book and chat with friends. All the functions of this library aka community centre are divided into 3 categories, namely: education, relaxation and support spaces. Each group then forms its own cell. The heart of the building becomes the relaxation cell, which is made up of stretched nets stretching over all the floors, opening and connecting the whole building. Externally, the building is sheathed in a kind of membrane that allows a glimpse of what is going on inside.

THE LIBRARY IN THE VOID
The design of the library in the terraced proluka is limited by the width of the plot, but at the same time it has a deep courtyard garden. The mass of the library is thus divided into an asymmetrical three-tract structure, where the corridor leads to the sanitary facilities on one side and to the rooms with a free selection of books for adults and children on the other, to the small halls used mainly for leisure activities on the floor below, and to the café on the ground floor, which connects the building with the garden. For capacity reasons, the lecture theatre also opens into the courtyard, which is connected to an outdoor gazebo and several other small buildings used primarily for relaxation. The entire building is sheathed in trapezoidal sheet metal, with individual windows protruding from it, through which one can see what is going on inside during the whole day. The entrance is designed as a small funnel drawing passers-by in, even if they only visit the quaint café reading the daily newspapers on the ground floor.

KNIHOVNA NA NÁROŽÍ
Návrh spočívá na myšlence vytvořit objekt s jasně vymezenými hmotami zahrnujícími totožné či sobě blízké funkce bez vytváření zbytečných a dlouhých chodeb, naopak právě komunikační prostory by se mohly stát místem setkávání se a vlastně jedním krytým veřejným prostorem, kde si najdete zákoutí pro čtení knížky i popovídání s přáteli. Všechny funkce této knihovny alias komunitního centra jsou rozděleny do 3 kategorií, a to: vzdělávání, relax a pomocné prostory. Každá skupina pak tvoří svou vlastní buňku. Srdcem objektu se stává odpočinková buňka, kterou tvoří napnuté sítě táhnoucí se přes všechna patra, což celý objekt otevírá a spojuje. Navenek je stavba opláštěna jakousi membránou, která dovoluje nahlédnout do dění odehrávajícího se uvnitř.

KNIHOVNA V PROLUCE
Návrh knihovny v řadové proluce je omezen šířkou parcely, ale zároveň disponuje hlubokou zahradou do vnitrobloku. Hmota knihovny je tak dělena na asymetrický trojtrakt, kde se z chodby vchází na jedné straně do hygienických prostor a na straně druhé do místností s volným výběrem knih pro dospělé i děti, o patro níže do prostor malých sálů sloužících především pro volnočasové aktivity a v přízemí do kavárny, která propojuje objekt se zahradou. Z kapacitních důvodů ústí do vnitrobloku i přednáškový sál, na který navazuje venkovní altán a několik dalších malých objektů sloužících především k relaxaci. Celý objekt je opláštěn trapézových plechem, ze kterého vybíhají jednotlivá okna, skrz která je během celého denního cyklu vidět dění uvnitř. Vstup je koncipován jako malá nálevka vtahující kolemjdoucí dovnitř, i kdyby zavítali jen do malebné kavárny s četbou denního tisku v přízemí.
