TEREZA HLADÍKOVÁ - PEACE SQUARE
ANOTATION
Peace Square is a historically defined public space of the Masaryk Quarter, which forms its natural centre equipped with civic amenities.
In order to fulfil the original concept, which is almost 100 years old, the last part of the square, i.e. the south side, needs to be defined and a fully-fledged central public space needs to be created, which corresponds not only to the character of the surrounding buildings, but also to the whole district and the needs of its inhabitants.
At present, local residents lack amenities for social activities. A long-standing organised association of local residents is seeking to create a community and social centre that is sought after and used by local people and with which local people identify. Due to the many interests involved, the needs of all stakeholders cannot be met.
The subject of the proposal is the design of a public realm and urban development of functional uses that develop the character of Peace Square in Brno with an emphasis on exploiting the potential of the public realm.
The form of the public space of Peace Square has long been unsatisfactory and requires a conceptual and comprehensive approach to planning its development. In particular, the design of the tram loop in combination with the alignment of roads and their crossings is inappropriate.
The proposed layout of the square offers a public space usable as a social and living space for the residents of the district.
The space will be a natural focal point for urban life, provide an area for a variety of events, attract residents and visitors to stay, and support the commercial uses of the newly proposed mixed-use building with commercial areas of shops, services and a sports centre.
It will offer a clearly defined urban public space that is a counterbalance to the revitalized natural parks below the church.

ANOTACE
Náměstí Míru je historicky vymezené veřejné prostranství Masarykovy čtvrti, které tvoří jeho přirozené centrum vybavené občanskou vybaveností.
K naplnění původní koncepce, staré téměř 100 let, chybí vymezit poslední tj. jižní stranu náměstí a vytvořit plnohodnotné centrální veřejné prostranství odpovídající nejen charakteru okolní zástavby, ale také celé čtvrti a potřebám jejích obyvatel.
V současné době místním obyvatelům chybí vybavenost pro společenské vyžití. Dlouhodobě organizované sdružení místních obyvatel usiluje o vytvoření komunitního a společenského centra, které by bylo místními vyhledávané a využívané a se kterým by se místní obyvatelé identifikovali. Vzhledem k mnoha zájmům nelze uspokojit potřeby všech zainteresovaných stran.
Předmětem návrhu je návrh veřejného prostoru a městské zástavby funkčního využití, které rozvíjí charakter náměstí Míru v Brně s důrazem na využití potenciálu veřejného prostranství.
Podoba veřejného prostoru náměstí Míru je dlouhodobě nevyhovující a vyžaduje koncepční a komplexní přístup k plánování jeho rozvoje. Zejména nevhodné je řešení tramvajové smyčky v kombinaci s vedením pozemních komunikací a jejich křížení.
Navrhovaná podoba náměstí nabízí veřejné prostranství využitelné jako společenské a pobytové místo pro obyvatele čtvrti.
Prostor bude přirozeným těžištěm městského života, poskytne plochu pro konání různorodých akcí, bude k pobývání lákat obyvatele i návštěvníky a podpoří obchodní využití nově navrhované polyfunkční budovy s komerčními plochami prodejen, služeb a sportovního centra.
Nabídne jasně definovaný městský veřejný prostor, který je protiváhou revitalizovaných přírodních parků pod kostelem.
