Youth Parliament in Dolapdere

Idea projektu

Dolapdere is a deprived area in istanbul that has not progressed and is not secure enough. the idea is to provide a place for young people to let them participate in social colaborations and by raising the awareness of the youth, the social level would be improved

Dolapdere is an old neighborhood in Istanbul where people of different nationalities lived for a long time and because they were generally immigrants, they were not taken care of and the neighborhood became a deprived and unsafe place. Also, the neighborhood is located in a valley and the houses are located on a steep slope and the land intended for the project is in the deepest part of this valley. In the past, there were many natural spaces in this place, but now the open space is limited.
İn Dolapdere neghborhood along the irmak street cultural centers such as Arter art museum Drimart art galery and Istanbul bilgi university campus have been built next to each other in order to raise the cultural level of area. whiles their architecture is rigid and does not harmonize with the old texture Along this cultural line, The project is a Youth Parliament which was designed as a link between the old texture and the new modern firm buildings. Over time we have witnessed the acceleration of all human activities, especially construction that has been produced at breakneck speed.This increase in quantity has reduced the quality of space. And in aim to restore this spatial quality. The building was placed inside nature, not limiting the nature inside the building.
The natural environment is the only place that is equally familiar to all people with different social classes and can provide a place for them to socialize.
By creating a place and opportunity for young people to think, gather and produce together, the Youth Parliament will make their voices heard more effectively to the authorities.
In this building, by breaking the whole Rectangular mass into narrow and Slim pieces and desplacing them to front and back its rigidity was eliminated and it was harmonized with the fragmented and old texture of Dolepdere houses.
This moving shell also conveys the energetic and dynamic spirit of the youth in the place
Due to the 8-meter slope of the earth, a sidewalk starts from the highest point of the earth and connects to the first floor without changing the slope.
This red path, like the artery of the body has a collecting property that leads people to the parliament hall, which represents the heart of the project.
We think and make decisions as we walk.We meet new people, get to know each other, make friends and even fall in love in open spaces.This project, with its numerous paths in the heart of beautiful nature, creates favorable conditions for such social relations.
By offering the right to choose from alternative pathes it arouses the human curiosity to spend more time exploring the place.

Technické informace

Slim pieces act as the structure of the building. Each of them is a huge concrete column in dimensions of 300 cm x 50 cm, which are connected by beams with dimensions of 150 cm x 150 cm. The weight of the floors is placed on these beams, and in addition, the shear walls also contribute to the strength of the structure, and the roof of the parliament is executed as a space frame structure.
