Idea projektu

"Itakua" in Guarani language means cave, which in the world view of the inhabitants of the Bolivian Amazon was a space for refuge.
The theater project "ITAKUA" VORTICE CULTURAL, is a design made for the architecture contest Santa Cruz de la Sierra Municipal Theater, which was worked under the concepts of weightlessness, spaces that contemplate the 5th dimension, hypergeometric vectors, music materica and the unification of cultural vortices.

The space is related through, the road axes, association with the existing vegetation, the extension of vegetable cover, as well as works with bioclimatic vectors and articulates with water.

Popis projektu

The interior spaces of the theater are flexible, the separation of partitions can be modified according to the need that is presented. The only fixed spaces are the sanitary areas, theater for 1500 and auditoriums for 1000 people.
The parking area, electrical substation, theater room, theater repair and healing workshop are located in the basement.

The areas that contemplate the outer route have a landscape design that responds to the climatic calculations, both to save water and energy, so it also has wind breaks and crystals that illuminate the interior.

The conception of both interior and exterior functionality is fluid, allowing the visitor to feel at the same time in two places, it is movable, it allows to modify the interior space and overcomes gravity through the ovoid proposal.

Technické informace

Regarding the quality of the outdoor spaces, it has a symbolic access, which is flanked by palm trees and symbolism of the Jesuit missions in Bolivia, as well as a water mirror, as the main element bordering the theater giving the feeling of having an infinite edge, in addition it will enter below the structure towards the interior space. With led screens underwater animation.

Regarding the landscape, the consolidation of the tree mass by 80% will be respected, this being the central element to drive the wind flows and generate oxygen in the theater space, while the exterior route will have eaves of the shells that protect the theater , the visitor can walk under random waves that protect from the sun. The texture of the floor and vegetation responds to the symbolism of the Guarani culture, whose octagonal angles contrast with the sinuosity of the theater, giving the visitor the feeling of traveling through time.

Regarding the structures, they are carriers, of large currents that work as a counterweight. For tectonics, wood will be used in the coating of the shells, as well as crystals that simulate the bolivianite gem.

The interior has flexible spaces, with light and natural ventilation.
