I, Brahmjot Singh Bhasin, the author of the thesis titled, “5 Star business hotel, Aerocity, New Delhi” hereby declare that this is an independent work of mine, carried out towards partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of Bachelor's Degree in Architecture at the Amity School of Architecture and Planning, Amity University, Noida, India.
The site is located in Aerocity in close proximity to I.G.I. Airport New Delhi, India. Aerocity is the new and upcoming CBD of New Delhi. The site has a hotel proposed on it, MGM Grand, and has pre-existing hotels around it. The design intent of the project was to create an inside out relationship between internal and open spaces to make the guests always feel connected to nature. The idea was to design spaces to attract both leisure and local guests along with guests coming to attend or organize meetings. This was achieved by providing various types and sizes of meeting and accommodation spaces to cater to a variety of guests and events. The spaces and functions were placed according to the sun path and wind flow and to gain natural light in public and private floors. The facade design and building orientation focused on minimizing the heat gain, maximize privacy of guests, and provide a shaded courtyard. The active and passive design strategies included egg crate type shading devices on the west facade, adjustable vertical louvers, thermal mass on external walls, and evaporative cooling to maintain the microclimate. The landscape design along with design strategies stated above helps in making the project more sustainable and have less carbon footprint. The main design challenge was to adhere to the height restriction of 29.37M by AAI.

The scope of work included site selection, site analysis, concept development, site plan, architectural plans of all floors, all guest room design, sections, elevations, and an idea of the structural system.
