A Mechanical Research Center was to be designed for the Mechanical Department of Thapathali Engineering Campus. This is a space for Academic Research and learning where the students of Mechanical Department will be working in various practical labs and classes.

Popis projektu

The brief suggested to design a Academic Research Center where laboratories of various weights were to be designed; Heavy weight lab, Medium Weight lab and Light Weight lab. Along with these, a library, classrooms, canteen, accommodations and a student center was to be included.

Technické informace

The site was situated in a contoured site that had 10 meters of total gradient. The challenge was to be design so many spaces with such large area requirements in almost 8000 sq.ft area.

The design is in levels where the heavy labs where positioned in the semi basement area, the medium labs in the ground floor and the light labs in the first floor. The main access road directly leads to the Ground Floor where as a ramped plaza leads to the semi basement area.
