Idea projektu

The main task of the project was to design a Science and technology park with planetarium. It is situated on the dam Vodne dielo in Žilina, Slovakia. The project has three conditions: Interactive, Child friendly and Symbol.

The principalg idea of the whole object is Universe as an infinite space with many secrets that have not yet been explored. Compositionally, it is conceived into two parts: the sphere / planetarium, which symbolizes Universe at the beginning of Big Bang, when it was only an infinitely small and massive ball. The second part, which fulfills the functions of the science and technology park, is designed in shape of the symbol of Infinity and is located between the water surface and the terrain on the central axis. The individual arms are raising or descending. It adds dynamism to the building. Placing the planetarium at the lowest point symbolizes the beginning of Universe. Four additional objects have been added to the building, which have the function of entrance halls and static elements for the construction as well.

Popis projektu

The proposed building is located on the eastern outskirts of the city of Žilina and is situated in relation to the dam with the hydroelectric power plant on the river Vah. The environment enjoys great popularity for its easy access from the city center and surrounding villages and is a popular place whether for cyclists, runners, skaters or hikers. At the beginning of the circuit around the dam there are three parking lots, which will also serve for the proposed Park. Public transport stops are located in close proximity. The location of the object is not accidental, it reacts on the dam environment and adapts to it.

Technické informace

The designed roof is walkable and covered with greenery. Part of the roof is also an amphitheater with a view of the outer surface of the planetarium, where projection can take place.
The facade of the building is made of transparent polycarbonate, which ensures daylight into the entire interior. The walls of the entrance halls are glazed.
The structure ensuring the stability of the building consists of two large steel beams that are connected in a certain grid by walls in the interior in the module 1500mm x 300 mm. At the same time, the walls are demarcating the space between expositions and communications.
The building also includes four additional objects, which have a function of entrance halls and static elements for the construction as well. A glass facade was designed for these parts.
The object is characterized by ramps that connect the different levels. Construction is a concrete slab with the steel beams.
