Idea projektu

The area dedicated to the expansion of the Latgale Zoo is located in the area between Daugavas Street, Cietoksins Street, Kandavas Street, and Vienibas Street, where the existing Latgale Zoo building is already located. This part of the city can now be described as a shrub and shrub wetland with separate groups of buildings and structures along adjoining driveways and streets.
According to the terms of reference, two plots of land have been earmarked for the expansion of the Latgale Zoo, however, to ensure functional and uniform spatial planning, design work is also planned on the land adjacent to the plots, which is already being used for the zoo.
The proposed solutions are designed taking into account the existing quality, maintaining them or modifying and adapting them to the new project situation so that the object can function in a unified way, creating a sustainable, user-friendly and pleasing environment according to the object profile specifics.

Popis projektu

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCEPT OF THE TERRITORY
The new building is planned to build a volume by combining it with the existing buildings, thus preserving not only a larger area amenity but also the organization of a unified logistics between the existing buildings and planned jungle and marshland parts volume. The proposed layout is optimal not only in construction units giving but also on an energy efficiency point of view. Like an interlocking building, a single volume is created to get a SINGLE’s Latgale Zoo complex, which provides a comfortable working environment, as well as a variety of tourist attractions in Daugavpils.
The facility planned functional zoning divided into successive i :
- The new building volume, connecting to the existing building, is located in the central part of the area.
- Representative square, located on the front of the building on the side of Vienibas Street.
- The area on the right side located Zoological Park outdoor exposure.
- On the left side of the square, the existing green space is preserved as a scenic park.
- A large utility area behind the building. It functions at the same time as a delivery area, a staff car park, and a courtyard.
- On Vienibas Street, infrastructure is provided to ensure convenient organization of visitor flows, access to the zoo farmyard, as well as parking lots for buses, as well as parking for visitors.

ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT AND PLANNING OF THE BUILDING
In the proposed solution the planned volume of the building will consist of 4 parts of the building:
• Existing building with existing animal exposure,
• Jungle World with Underground World,
• Swamp the underwater world,
• Administrative and economic unit.
Each thematic exhibition is separated from each other, but all of them with joint visitor entrance with cloakroom lockers, visitor toilets, and ticket sales outlets, as well as an animal service rooms.

The visitor flow is planned as follows:
A pmeklētājam entering and buying a ticket, it's a lift into the third floor, where organized groups, listened to a brief lecture and watching video a roller, it is possible to meet and get an idea of the environment in which natural conditions live in Latgale Zoo represented by animals, birds, and insects, amphibians, reptiles, etc. . Exploring the zoo begins with Ventilation and climate ducts and pipes would be architecturally recorded in the newly created world of the Wetlands and Jungle. The overall feeling is intended to be enhanced by the use of audio and visual effects, incl. the latest technologies for fusing virtual images with the real world. We want the exhibit to be not only static but active as much as the small area and environment allow. It would be possible to modulate rain, thunderstorms, sunny moments, night, fog, etc.
For the new volume, the core elements of the building's facade are glass and burnt wood, which is a special wood-fired technology, thus extending the durability of the wood. The glass provides daylight penetration into the building as well as the visual connection to the indoor and outdoor space, while wood is chosen for the decoration of the building as it is a characteristic natural feature in both jungle and bog areas. Its irregular location imitates the feeling of entering the cave, where it is surprising to see the diverse and interesting indoor expositions of the Latgale Zoo.

Technické informace

Territory conceptual solution modeled after the rules of competition, creating a zoo park areas as much as possible overusing d the two elements of the world, creating the environment for nature-like, but a representative area offer to create traditional public relaxation.

There is a driveway for staff and visitors on the southern side of the site and 8 parking spaces, including 3 for disabled people, are provided. A functional lane system for two Environmental accessibility is provided both inside and outside the building. In the building, this is achieved by placing the elevator in the central part of the complex. While the outside space, where necessary are arranged ramps and recessed bortakmeņi.

If necessary, the object can also be divided into several construction layers. Within the framework of Phase 1, a part of the volume of the Mire House will be constructed with an administrative and technical unit, which will also affect the adaptation of the existing building to the new volume. Thus ensuring a full and uninterrupted Zoo functioning and availability of approximately e barn. At least a representative entrance part, as well as a commercial yard with the necessary logistics, shall be built from the favorable development. Round 2 may include the construction of a Jungle Exhibition Hall. As part of, or as part of, Tier 2, the outdoor exposure section of the zoo can be constructed.

All in all, the proposed solution allows for efficient use of the entire area by functional separation of visitor and service staff flows. Combining separate parts of the zoo in one complex will ensure rational use of resources, as well as offering thoughtful visitor flow organization, including an exhibition of existing animals, the new Jungle World and Swamp Areas and an outdoor exhibit.
