By doing historical research, we obtained the traces of the buildings which were of essential significance for the function of Oskar Schindler and his labor camp. Those same buildings, with time passing, disappeared from the map of the village, and for us, their memory is the foundation of our concept for the further development of Brněnec.
Our decision is to establish two types of housing: a perimeter block and a row house, while preserving the only two buildings still standing. The perimeter block has been placed on the footprints of the former textile factory, in which the apartment units of 50m² and 100m² are placed. Moving through the site and following the traces of the other smaller buildings, we placed lower housing in the form of a row house. Residential units of 25m², 50m² and 100m² are placed here. Part of the facilities are provided with an additional program on the ground floor. A ground floor pavilion has been placed on the southern part of the site, which may be given a specific public purpose. Regarding the vegetation, we keep the extent and limit of the vegetation which was present during the period which we are researching.
Materials for sustainable housing are used, so we are oriented to the use of wood and textiles, both in the construction and in the decoration of the builidings' facades.
