Idea projektu

The concept of my project is to create a space where everyone can learn,
understand and be a part of the history.
I wanted to make this space back into its original form of the forty’s while
improving some parts to make it a pleasant space to welcome the
visitors.
The river is an important part of the plot and of the history of this space,
indeed it is the connection between the two region and what link them,
from a symbolic and material point of view.
I didn’t want to create closed spaces, for a symbolic idea, the goal of a
museum is to connect people and history. So instead i decided to play
with glass, greenery, height and different types of floor to separate the
spaces.
The garden is an important and symbolic part of the project. The idea is
to create a red thread which would be the path that lead us through the
garden, and the memories. The choise of the red color is to recall the
only color that we see in the movie “The Schindler’s list”, as a matter of
fact the movie is black and white but we can see some highlighted part
with red. The thread is also a link with the history as it was the material
processed in the big factory building.
Finally to make this walk a commemorative and meditative promenade
and to honor the people who work and were saved by Oskar Schindler I
put 1200 trees and shrubs along the path as the number of jews who
were here.
This project, the red thread is an opening on the history and
try to be humble and free to let people think and try to find
peace.
It is also a pure thank you to Mr Schindler

Popis projektu

The initial entrance at the north will still be usefull for
people who will use the multifunctionnal room in the main
building. This room will be use for conference, for the
children and the visitors to see the movies and other cultural
and creative performance with a link with this space.
The exhibiton is quite free and open to highlight the pillars
and beam structure which is very interesting, so the people
can easily wander or stop by to rest and meditate.
On the first floor we can find the restaurant above the main
entrance hall.
One of the ideas of my project is to play with the double high
to let people enjoy the size of the spaces and in the case of
the oskar schindler factory, let them see the different
machines that were using the jews.
In the second floor, an added part, we can find the
administration, like this, it doesn’t interfere with the
exhibition space while still be in the center of the museum.
In the facade, we can appreciate the sawtooth roof and the
promenade that I created behind the museum and which act
like a border between inside and outside.
We can see the simplicity of the new main facade which
doesn’t steal the spotlight of the old factory building
On the section we can see the quality of the double high, the
small winter garden that make the link between the hall and
the staircases and the exhibition area. We can also the see
the new glass open which create a link between the river and
the library.

Technické informace

I decided to show where I acted by using wood, thereby we can easly
make the difference between what was here at the time and what’s new.
My architecture should allow to put forward and show the history of the
building without interfering with it.
I chose soft and calm materials, light concrete, stone, glass, to allow people to concentrate on the important while highlight the old one. I tried to keep as much as possible the initial structure of the buildings while renovating what was important and interesting to show, the bricks, the fabric structure, the windows and the saw teeth roof.
