Idea projektu

The conceptual project is located on the banks of the Rawa River boulevards. Its urban layout is inspired by the spectrum of star clusters. It refers to variety of science, arts, humanities disciplines. Along the bands, there are four buildings and enormous underground exhibiton. The star cluster-inspired bands act as footbridges, removing the communication barrier by connecting the two opposite river banks. The bands feature interactive exhibits.The underground exhibition refers to the industrial heritage of Silesia - the mines. The most valuable things are located underground. It is illuminated by enormous glass greenhouses emerging above the ground.

Popis projektu

The complex consists of four buildings: two science popularization center objects, a museum, and a parking lot.

The science popularization center houses exhibition areas, underground displays, and screening rooms. An important part of the complex is the expanded student zone with design studios, complementing the nearby campus. Both interiors of two buildings function as enormous balconies to spectral band which takes the form of garden
The spectral bands are also transferred to the underground, dividing the space and designating exhibition themes.

To enhance the industrial character of the place, truss girders were introduced to support the roof. Sunshading material was spread across this structure. This design element completes the urban interior, creating an inner courtyard.

The governing rule in the science garden are spectra. Between them, you can find vegetation, seating areas, and exhibits. Along the river, a promenade in the form of steps and an "excessive" number of footbridges were proposed.

Technické informace

The aim of the conceptual project is to emphasize the advantages of the riverfront promenades of the ‘Rawa’ River. The designed building is intended to serve as a backdrop to the surroundings, which is why glass panels are used as the facade material. They provide both privacy and do not disconnect the building from its surroundings. The above-ground load-bearing structure is based on steel columns and reinforced concrete slabs. The underground section refers to the history of Silesia and its industry. The load-bearing structure of this area consists of reinforced concrete slabs and columns. To emphasize the industrial character of the place, truss girders supporting the roof have been introduced. Sunshade material is spread over this structure. This design element completes the urban interior, creating an internal courtyard.

The building interiors of the facilities feature gardens, and the upper floors are arranged as balconies overlooking these gardens.
