Idea projektu

The main goal of the project is to create a living memorial park to commemorate, but at the same time bring life to the damaged port area. To design the working and bringing profits industrial space, but at the same time unable outside visitors to visit the same space, with no conflict.

Popis projektu

The project focus on the need of creating more green spaces in Beirut.

The main element of the park is the green area around the explosion site. Special zones with cultural, educational, and/or recreational functions have been designed there. There will be a section of grain fields with an educational path with pavilions, climate micro greenhouses - simulating a mountain climate and paths above the water surface, which will unable to see the view of the whole landscape.

All these elements surround the ruins of the silo, which is the center of the park and their goal was to educate and activize every visitor.

Technické informace

The material and space idea was to as less as possible to change the landscape form, just by adding new flora layer.

The Climate Bubbles

The greenhouses, formed as bubbles, located on the rubble of the silo, function as a separate educational space. Inside The Bubbles, there is created a unique ecosystem, simulating the climatic conditions of Lebanese highlands.

In the spherical forms of the greenhouse, debris from the ruins of the silo was used to create a rockery structure. The structure of tinted glass is designed to limit the absorbed heat and penetrating sun rays. That allows to regulate the internal humidity and temperature to ensure optimal growth conditions for plants that require such a climate.

The micro-mountain ecosystem facility is to serve as an educational attraction - to familiarize visitors with the biodiversity of the local flora and arouse curiosity in discovering different regions of the country.

The 12 Months - Blooming Meadow

The idea of a meadow is to create a naturally complementary ecosystem, created from wildflowers and wild grass. The meadow will not require additional care - like the need of using additional fertilizers or mowing the meadow during the season will not be needed - which will reduce maintenance costs. In addition, green plants, including flowers, will constitute a natural ecosystem for the local fauna, as a place to obtain food (for pollinating insects) and it will function as a shelter for birds and other small animals.

The flowers are selected in such a way, they complement the wild grass, creating a spectacular spectrum of colors, individual for each month of the year.
