Idea projektu

“Epitomes” is referring to the miniature of Kampong Bharu. Therefore, in order to preserve the historical sense of Kampong Bharu, the design was inspired by the characteristics of traditional Malay house. The space arrange of the design is inspired by the malay house with the flow of front to rear which is from anjung to serambi - rumah ibu - selang - rumah tengah then darpur. The space was categorised into public, semi-public, private, semi-private. Finally, the programs and spaces in the design are arrangement was form follow the sequence.
The Existing community activity is an important site forces on site. Therefore, decided to remain the exisiting community and blend it into the building program. Lorong raja muda musa 3 is the main vehical access road on site thus the drop off area and the basement carpark access decided to located face to Lorong raja muda musa 3 for easy access.
The information centre zone raising up to enhance the connection between the visitor and the local. It was inspired by the stilt up design from traditional malay house. It acts as a path to lead the visitor from kuala lumpur city center to reach the community activity zone DIRECTLY.
The existing tree is remained and act as a natural shading device for the building. In the other hand due to the sun orientation the largest part of the building is facing to east and west. Thereby, the stack effect design was applied on the front elevation to minimize the direct sunlight access into the building.
The futsal located on the ground floor and link with the internal path under the stilted building to enhance the permeability of pedestrian.
The timber floor system is also a characteristic of malay house. The gap between the timber floor system allow the fresh air to enter the building through the gap. However timber floor system is not suitable in the project due to the cost and lasting value of timber. Therefore, multiple floor level on each floor the gap between the floor was created to achieve the ventilation function through the gap between the floor. A higher celing level and ventilated roof are also inspired by malay traditional house to store and bring out the hot air in the building. At the time the fully openable window is also inspired by malay traditional house which located facing to the north and south direction to avoid direct sun light.
In a nut shell, “epitomes” is referring to the miniature of kampong bharu. Therefore, in order to preserve the historical sense of kampong bharu, the desing is inspired by malay traditinal house such as stilt up design, ventilated roof, comment sapce below the stilt and the space arrangement of malay traditional house.

Popis projektu

Kampong bharu is located next to the kuala lumpur city centre, and yet site 3 is located near to the akleh higway and 3 min walking distance from the saloma bridge. Site 3 is surrounded by Lorong raja muda musa 3, jalan datuk abdua Yassin, jalan raja muda musah 4 and sekolah rendah agama jalan raja mudah musa as neighbour building. Through the inquiries on the Internet, we noticed some issue stated on the new. for example, Kampung Baru development plan does not seem to take into full account the potential of the area as a tourist attraction, especially with its cultural heritage values, The traditional Malay houses that now sit in the shadow of the gleaming Petronas Twin Towers in Kampung Baru and etc. Therefore, I believe kampong bharu information center is the best solution to solve the issues. the intention of the design is to connect, documentary and introduce to the public. Lrt kampong bharu and saloma bridge act as an important row to connect the public to kampong bharu, thereby kampong bharu information center become a starting point of the tour in kampong bharu.
