Idea projektu

The current pandemic has highlighted social inequities. Some are social, cultural, spatial, and territorial, some are environmental, and so on. COVID-19 has taught us about how cities/neighborhoods/ spaces need to plan, build and design differently in the future. What social resiliency means in the context of pandemic and public health crisis.

Popis projektu

For many decades, many cities in Indonesia was designed for low-income community, and years later it grew into an un-standardized man-made space. The ratio of leisure space already knocked by the demand for living, also the proper living quality is decreasing extremely. In the way of providing a mutual public space, the strategy basically is from securing the reachable perimeter to determine who is common uses the space. Then because each area has solid teamwork, they are directed to create their own public space's features by using universal standardized components. So then, they can fulfil their own need and ready to keep resilience independently without intervention from major authorities.

Technické informace

A universal component is briefly for reviving the crafting culture that is almost forgotten also increasing the possibility to be innovative in managing furniture need sustain. Mainly, it provides a clasping system for any existing material.

The main area inside the public space basically contains a roomy surface with grid order as a response to the distancing limit. The main entrance is provided with a sanitary feature that fulfills health protocol and encourages it to turn into a community’s habit.
Behind the area is provided for the storage area, cultivation also poultry features, which support basic needs (food) for the community.

The terrace surface around the main area gives a depth of level for collecting excess water from the rainy season that usually causing a flood inside the settlement. The pond scenario also encourages the community to do fish cultivation and complete the resiliency for the next journey.

When the sun rises up, women from the community start doing daily Morning Market, also they create a communal exercise on the weekend.
Other local members start to treat cultivation plants or poultry. Shared field concept-based time is empowered for balance inside the community.

When the morning density ends, children are encouraged to play around and use the shared field for their leisure.
Some adults, may simply clean clothes aside or take care of poultry back inside the coop.

Sunsets, the children and adults make their own way to fulfill the shared field. Especially on the night of the weekend, some other prepare a public cinema to give an extra amusement.
But in the case of the rainy season, the shared field is directed to be a pond to reduce the annual flood problem. It also provides fish cultivation.
