Idea projektu

Hybrid block Smíchov is a mixed-use building with a mixture of several functions - a sports center (dancing halls, climbing wall, fitness), café, parking, garden, housing, wellness. This building is located in Prague and the aim was to complete the city block.

Popis projektu

This project aims to create a hybrid block. I used all the possible space that the site offers and completed a city block with one building. The goal was to create a pleasant space for people and their free time activities.
The building is created from two volumes which are one over another. The lower one consists of mainly public functions. There are two floors for parking. Also the café on the ground floor and the sports center on the second floor. There are four dancing halls, a climbing wall, and a fitness.
On the rooftop of this part, there is a garden with a playground, greenery, and summer theatre. The garden line is wavy so that creates a significant line on the facade.
Above mentioned garden, there is a „floating“ second volume. This one mostly consists of flats. But there are also shared spaces and double-story wellness.
A facade is designed from curved perforated metal sheet panels. Panels that are used for upper volume have a smaller radius to make the volume look lighter. At the bottom of the upper volume (which creates a roof for a garden), there is used a mirror so people here don't feel uncomfortable because of the big mass which is above their heads.

Technické informace

Both volumes are designed as a concrete structure. A facade is designed from curved perforated metal sheet panels. This allows sunlight in the interior but prevents from overheating on the south side, and makes the building look lighter as well.
