Idea projektu

The main goal of the project was to create a simulation between the diverse society of Bursa and the small society that will exist within the Hotel's walls.

The project aims to respond creatively to the architectural program announced, ensure flexibility in most parts of the design and propose extra open spaces. A high level of communication is essential in order to create a diverse society within the walls of the Hotel. Thus, brick walls were designed to let both light, shadows, and transparency through the spaces.

Popis projektu

The combination of imposing exterior architecture with sophisticated interiors provides in result, a new and unique hotel, and thus "The Cube" Hotel is designed through the juxtaposition of several buildings with individual functions.

In addition, the master plan is complemented by a sports and recreation complex situated along the east side, It includes a swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, and a multifunctional space used for outdoor activities such as banquets, etc

The elements hierarchy was designed with the functions of each space and the level of privacy required in mind. The courtyards and open spaces were placed on the most internal area of the site to ensure the security of the guest, to soften and intimate the outdoor space. The hotel is also surrounded by tree ribbons, which help to break/stop the visual continuity between the hotel and the outsider site.

Technické informace

The design uses hand-made terracotta bricks as the base material of the project. The light and shadow changes formed by different masonry effects -such as rotation and filling- are used in the brick hole.

The specially made terracotta bricks must go through secondary processing before they can be dismantled into the basic units needed for construction. The random cross-section effect created during disassembly is combined with the smooth effect of the original bricks to create a wall surface with varying degrees of roughness and shade intensities, further enriching the visual sense of layering.
