Location

The plot for the proposed library is located in the Západ housing estate in Poprad. In the vicinity there is a primary school with a kindergarten, a special primary school, playgrounds, a retirement home and apartment buildings, so the library will certainly attract many visitors.

There is already one library in this housing estate, but it does not offer any multifunctional space and is situated in a rather remote location, so it will be moved to new more attractive premises.

The library is situated on the northern half of the site, trees will be planted on the southern half to ensure that traffic from the main road does not reach the library.


Building and structural design

The library is designed as a frame building. The structure consists of wooden modular cube-shaped frames with dimensions 3x3x3 m. This solution should considerably speed up and simplify construction.

Reinforced concrete ceilings are proposed. The flat green roof has a square glazed opening in the centre, which provides light to the whole hall and especially to the tree in the centre of the library.

Large wooden windows are used. The façade is clad in timber cladding.

The library will be ventilated by heat recovery ventilation.


The layout

The entrance floor contains a vestibule with storage, a reception area, a lobby with the tree in the centre as its main feature, toilets, a creative room and a children's playroom, strategically located next to the bistro so that parents have a good view of their children from there.
The second floor can be accessed by two staircases and an elevator. There is a study room, a club room, a youth department, a lecture room that can also be used as a cinema, a terrace that can be accessed from the hall or from the lecture room and a games room connected to the PC room.

As this library is only a branch of the Podtatranská Library in Poprad, there is no book storage and the books are distributed according to genre in the rooms.

Lokalita

Parcela pre navrhnutú knižnicu sa nachádza na sídlisku Západ v meste Poprad. V blízkom okolí je základná škola s materskou školou, špeciálna základná škola, detské ihriská, domov dôchodcov a bytovky, takže knižnica určite priláka množstvo návštevníkov.

Na tomto sídlisku sa už nachádza jedna knižnica, tá však neponúka žiadne multifunkčné priestory a je situovaná na pomerne odľahlom mieste, preto bude presunutá do nových atraktívnejších priestorov.

Knižnica je situovaná na severnej polovici pozemku, na južnej časti budú vysadené stromy, ktoré zabezpečia, aby sa ruch z hlavnej cesty nedostal až do knižnice.


Stavebno-konštrukčné riešenie

Knižnica je navrhnutá ako skeletová stavba. Konštrukcia pozostáva z drevených modulových rámov v tvare kocky s rozmermi 3x3x3 m. Toto riešenie by malo značne urýchliť a zjednodušiť výstavbu.

Stropy sú navrhnuté železobetónové. Plochá zelená strecha má v strede štvorcový presklenný otvor, ktorý presvetlí celú halu a hlavne strom v strede knižnice.

Sú použité veľké drevené okná. Fasáda je obložená dreveným obkladom.

Knižnica bude vetraná rekuperačne.


Dispozičné usporiadanie

Vstupné podlažie obsahuje zádverie s odkladacími priestormi, recepciu, halu, ktorej hlavnou dominantou je strom v jej strede, toalety, tvorivú miestnosť a detský kútik, ktorý je strategicky umiestnený vedľa bistra tak, aby odtiaľ rodičia mali dobrý výhľad na svoje deti.
Na druhé podlažie sa dá vstúpiť dvoma schodiskami a výťahom. Nachádza sa tu študovňa, klubovňa, oddelenie pre mládež, prednášková miestnosť, ktorá sa dá využiť aj ako kino, terasa, na ktorú sa dá vyjsť z haly alebo z prednáškovej miestnosti a herňa spojená s PC miestnosťou.

Keďže táto knižnica je len pobočkou Podtatranskej knižnice v Poprade, nenachádza sa tu sklad kníh a jednotlivé knihy sú podľa žánru rozmiestnené po daných miestnostiach.
