Idea projektu

My project is based on my thesis about the poetic place. I tried to think whether there is room for this type of discourse in the contemporary era to link the dimensions of technology and poetics.

TECHNOPOETIC
Between Technology and Poetics in Spatial Design

The phenomenon of poetic space, namely within a boundary

Technological innovations have transformed urban space, by opening-up new boundaries, whether physical or conscious. Thus, the boundaries of cities have become blurred. It seems that a certain dimension has been lost, in my opinion- the poetic dimension of space.

One can ask: Is there still a place for poetic space in the contemporary era?
My project examines “boundaries” as a place and an event; as an expression of the relationship between interior and exterior. The project conceives of a boundary not as a circumference that marks-off shape, but one that delineates a presence; a space in which an event takes place.

This project makes it possible to understand Jaffa Street in Jerusalem in its sense that extends beyond the boundaries of the city.
Based on Heidegger, I explore the connection between technology, art and its expression in poetic dimension; bonds that create human experience in space.
I examined Jaffa Street in Jerusalem, alongside Agripas and Haneviim Streets, as a “boundary of content” where external and internal boundaries meet; where local dimensions meet universal dimensions. These dimensions intersect each other and create situations of "intermediate space."

The urban design I suggest opens two main spaces with different poetic personae. In the space between Jaffa and Agripas streets I suggest an urban block constructed from the typology of layers that creates a dimension of depth, and folds inward while creating an intermediate space of inner courtyard.
Compared to, the space between Jaffa and Haneviim streets I conceive of a large universal space, beyond the local existence of Jerusalem. This belongs to grand cultural Jerusalem. This space is shaped by small symbols that open thresholds for other phenomena.

As one moves eastward towards the Old City of Jerusalem, the universal dimension becomes more prominent, allowing events from outside the boundary to find expression.
